I will be an archer I suspect, but I will have to see how stuff plays. I was a thief/ninja/ranger/dancer/paladin with Aranel, so I suspect I will try and take her that way again in the closes fashion I can.
I'm inclined to go with a Pulilist since I was a MNK/SAM last time around.
Though they did have a very limited role in combat, they also had unique utility. I hope things have become a little more balanced this time around.
I might also be interested in a Mage.
I really hope Race doesn't play such a massive role like it did before. I know a lot of changes were made after I left, things made easier, loading made faster ect.
Well, they didn't change much to be honest, not in that regard.
They added little mini quests to help with the "grind" and level sync to allow you to level with the lowest leveled person in the group.
Race was and I think should be really influential on how good your character was at specific roles. I really liked that Mithra were built to be ninjas and thieves.
The mages are interesting (and this is all assuming that there will be the addition of "advanced jobs")
Either AOE or ranged single target. I like that diversity instead of making it role based.
I think this game will be impressive and very intricate and very clever. They are going to bring across a lot of the good stuff from FFXI.
Dem and I played FFXI a LONG time. The grind of getting all those jobs to 75 is painful now to look back at lol. I am hoping they make a lot of improvements in that area.

Yeah, I didn't play for so long... however... I logged 39days of playtime over the course of 90, so I played... a lot. and yes looking at that grind was painful. Not being able to solo past 11 was painful, spending countless hours in one zone doing the exact same thing for the same exp was painful. Playing with idiots... was painful I think I played thought my whole playtime. mkn, sam, war, dkn, sum, whm, rdm, blm. it was bad. I was like a jack of all low level trades. Which is why when I came to this game I said... 1 class, 1 character, for the first 2.5 years.
GOD there was always that one corner in the second area of that zone like level 30 zone where you killed the M... (little white dudes).
Fuck that sucked. I'm betting they made things easier... this time.
It looks like you can like... switch to anything (go from tank to mage in no time flat) whenever you want, which is kinda like the old one, but it seems like its a lot less restrictive. who knows.
Little white dudes were Mandragora. They will likely be in 14 as well.
And you are thinking of Yuhtunga Jungle where everyone flooded the entrance with six parties and fought for every mob, and the smart people just ran in for 60 seconds and had a completely clear camp lol.
The concept of "camp" in WoW is completely foreign.
I thought the whole competing for camp sites/pulls was painful. Camping notorious monsters was painful. Unlocking advanced jobs was painful. Clearing level cap quests was painful.
But FFXI was the hardest MMO I have ever played and getting my Rajas Ring and killing Promathia was a true feeling of achievement. The LK kill was similar, but instead of killing ONE LK level fight, finishing chains of promathia was 14 such fights with trash from hell thrown in there.
Just ask Dem about a certain dragon and an airship fight lol
There was an "advanced" version of Ouryu (the aforementioned dragon) which involved fighting 4 other dragons as well. I did it once... that was enough. It was impossible.
As far as the job thing in 14, it's based on items. If you are carrying a wand, you are a mage. If you have a shield, you are a tank. We just don't know how you advance the jobs.
I personally LOVED the fact that Aranel was a thief AND a ninja AND a white mage. So She could heal, tank or dps depending.

LOL Yeah. a Camp is totally foreign to wow.
Yeah we always used to just stick by the entrance. People were afraid of aggro pulls, however running farther in was better because noobs at the front would train mobs on you if you were closer to the front... OMG I hated those little devils... and their train-ing.
So is Jubilance going to have a FFXIV division? It would be great to get back in game with you all. Not sure if I will be back to wow come the expansion or not but likely will be giving FF a go.

Before you criticize someone you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them you will be a mile away and you will have their shoes!
I would like to have a Jubilance FFXIV Linkshell or the like.
Once the Beta servers come up I will let you all know. I'm pretty sure anyone who bought FFXIII will pretty much get into the beta at some point and if your a whore like me you bought the collectors edition without even thinking about it. so you'll get in at least 8 days early.
be careful chapy the PS3 isn't going to be nearly the quality of playing on the computer... in fact on the PS2 FFXI was all lowest settings except for terrain distance I think...
I'm just not sure the game can handle it. however its probably your cheapest solution :-)
you could buy a PC and do like a dual boot of Mac-OS and Windows
