Either way, Dem is one of the most gifted artists I have ever known, and I have known a lot. The stuff she has posted is only the beginning of where I think she will end up.

Well, I'll take it down then since it's "bad form" for my husband (partner, boyfriend, whatever) to give me the confidence to share something personal with people I trust and respect.

I don't post here much as I left Muradin (again lol), but this thread makes me sad. Art is there to be looked at, its the purpose for it. What good is art if no one looks at it?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with praising someone else's work whether they are a family member, a milkman who you see twice a week or a next door neighbor. Who cares?

I saw some of them before the link went down and I don't know much about art, but they were really good and its obvious you have a talent.

I had to read Iru's post a few times as I wasn't sure if it was a joke or not. That comment is the only poor form i've seen so far. Needless negativity.

I am aware that there is a cultural machismo in Australia, and perhaps this comment is spawned from that inherited attitude.

However, in England and the US, publically supporting your wife (partner, girlfriend, whatever) is not only perfectly acceptable form it is also expected.

You can, as an impartial observer, choose to assume a certain bias. That's your choice. And that is why there was once a link which allowed people to go look at the work themselves and draw their own conclussions.

It should be noted that my appreciation of Dem's work began BEFORE my relationship with her, and that *I* am an art college graduate and professional graphic designer, so I also spoke from the position of professional critique.

Think what you want though.

I don't think he was, Janyaa. There are a dozen ways in the online medium to indicate humourous comments, he did none of them - so outside of mind reading I don't think anyone can make the assumption that he meant anything other than what he wrote.

Look, I've known Iru for quite awhile... I can say with all confidence that he was teasing. Although, it obviously didn't come across adequately in text.

I did look yesterday Dem... and I was impressed!
